The Hendel House gallery is going to be paying tribute to Jimi Hendrix and pay tribute to the greatest guitar player ever when “Hendrix in Britain” opens at 25 Brook Street. The house was home to composer George Frederick Handel and is now a dedicated to his life and work. The top flat, however, is 23 Brook Street where Jimi Hendrix lived with his girlfriend in 1968. My aunt Sandie lived with Jimi’s girlfriend at some point so I am trying to confirm if she lived in this very flat. Jimi gave her some hadwritten lyrics and Sandie threw them away…she didn’t think anyone would car. Care??? That is a major understatement.
A special exhibition will run in the house between 25 August and 7 November to mark the 40th anniversary of Hendrix’s death. Amongst the usual rock n roll paraphenalia, there will be handwritten lyrics (not my aunts); and various pieces of clothing worn by the man during his performances.
Tickets are £8 and go on sale online 1 June. Admission to the House and exhibition is £5.
